MEG
GIVES DUCATI BIKES IT’S FIRST NATIONAL PODIUM
TEAM MAKE 7 PODIUMS IN SIX RACES
First
year elite rider Meg Britchard took all the glory at this
weekend’s National Mountain Bike Series in Scotland
in her only second elite race, with an outstanding performance
to take third place and Ducati bikes first Elite podium.
On
a course that has a vicious climb at the start and very
demanding technical single track sections, Meg rode a
peach of a ride, slowly working her way through the field
until the last lap when the gap between her and third
place was only a matter of meters. Putting in a storming
last lap to all the joy of the rest of her team- mates,
she crossed the line hands aloft to take the third spot.

| In
the earlier races, 14 year old Beth Crumpton got the team
off to a great start by following on from her success in
Round 1, taking her second first place of the series in
the juvenile category, and with Hannah Shenton picking up
a second place in the youth race. The team were on a roll.
The
junior race was no different, and with 2 riders there
was high hope of success. As the race got underway it
was our National champion Annie Simpson who led the field
away with Carla Haines in third. As the race progressed
there was hope of a second win of the day, but as we have
learnt in Mountain biking its not over till the finishing
line, and picking up a slow puncture on the last lap meant
Annie had to settle for second place. Carla battled away
behind the team again had more to shout about at the finish
as she secured a fine third place securing 2 for the podium.
What a brilliant days cross country racing.

WHITE BIKES ENDURO SERIES ROUND 2
After
Saturday’s brilliant start to the day young Beth
Crumpton repeated her success again by taking first place
in the womens 25km race, competing against all age categories,
such an outstanding result for the 14 year old, and podium
number 6 for the weekend.
With Annie Simpson off to the European championships with
the Great Britain team, and Round one 50km winner and
yesterday’s hero Meg off to ride the trans Alp further
north, it was up to junior Carla Hains to ride the 50km
for the team and with out disappointment. In extreme heat
she secured our 7th and final podium of the weekend with
a brilliant second place, competing against riders way
above her age and making the long trip to Scotland a trip
to remember.
