Dodgy Gear Rider Sam Nichol competes for AMCA British Championship points. Read his account of a days racing at Marshfield championship track near Bristol.

The day at Marshfield started off well with a good practice. I managed to
jump the step up over the far side of the track and make the corner! In the
first race I got the holshot and tried to check out which I did for a lap.

As the battle began Joseph Barry passed me, and as he pushed by so did Knatchbull pushing me wide in the harepin. Within the next few laps we traded positions back and forth until Knatchbull went down by the side of me which left me and Barry to battle it out, but it was to late in the race as the chequered flag waved and the first race was over.

The second race began and I was second around the first corner behind Carl Dezis. This race was slightly less messy than the first with positions being only changed once. Me and Josh Wyatt were having a small battle, with Wyatt just pinching me to the flag so I finished 3rd.

In the third and final race I got the holeshot again leading for 3 laps with a battle brewing for the top step of the podium with me 1st, Dezis 2nd, Wyatt 3rd, Knatchbull 4th and Barry 5th within a couple of seconds off each other. Wyatt put a pass on Dezis moving into 2nd, the next lap he put a aggressive block pass on me in the bowl turn, at the near side of the track. I almost managed to jump back by but I didn’t' quite get the drive.

Half a lap later Knatchbull had moved into 3rd and as I made a small mistake he ran me out of track and I had to chop the throttle down moving him into 2nd, but now it was pay back time for Knatchbull as I came up the inside of him I had the pass made but he tried to come across thinking I was going to chop the throttle! Think again Knatchbull as I took his front wheel away from him. Now I was second and closing in on Wyatt as he begin to tire, with a lap to
go I closed down the gap but not quite enough to make the pass, so in that
race I finished with another 2nd..
