Dodgy Gear
Rider Chris Lane Completes 12 Endurance race
Last
weekend saw the ever popular Bristol Bikefest take place in
Ashton Court, Bristol. The event is one of the most loved biking
events in the country drawing riders, friends and family from
far and wide.
Bikefest
manages again to get the day just right by combining really
competitive and challenging events, with a fun, friendly atmosphere
and some events just for a laughs as well as raising money for
charities.
Dodgy
Gear rider Chris Lane was their riding his new Kona bike, which
weighs a tiny 22lbs and is specially designed and set up by
Bike Station, Yate for competing in both short course and enduro
events.
Chris
competed against 30 other riders in his first 12 hour race.
The event started at 9am and the weather made it a gruelling
day of riding in the heat and humidity around one of the best
and toughest mountain bike courses in the South.
Chris
said he enjoyed the first 7 laps, which he was completing in
around 30 mins per lap, but then continuously coping with the
roots, rocks, bomb holes, drop offs and scaffold bridge took
its toll.
Even
through all of this Chris only stopped for two 20min breaks
and finished the race a little before the 9pm deadline. He managed
to complete an amazing 16 laps of the 6 mile track and came
9th overall.
This
was a great achievement for the 19 year old rider, who normally
competes in XC events, which are 1 hour 30 mins.
Dodgy
Gear took this opportunity to support Chris in one of his biggest
challenges yet and also helped to sponsored the event and provide
prizes for both team and solo events.
Everyone
from Dodgy Gear had a great weekend so thanks to the team of
organisers, everyone who attended and of course Chris.
